Description

You can start or continue a brief European medieval cities' tour with this stein as well as the Old Cologne stein, the Old Meunchen stein, the Old Heidelberg stein and the old Salzburg stein. Each stein has been recreated in Germany after a reproduction of the prints of the master Matthaus Merian. This stein has a detailed explanation on the lower part of its body of each one of the positions featured in the graphic area. It is almost like a land map with indications of landmarks; we could say an early cartography or old map of the city of Rothenburg.

The lid of this stein has been recreated following the rules of the medieval steins. As the pointed pewter lids were not manufactured yet the steins used to have a flat pewter top that could be opened very easily with the thumblift. In order to make it more elegant the medieval steinmasters greated a pointed oakwood top glued to the pewter base. This idea of a pointed top became accepted and a few generations after, the pointed pewter top was created adding superb elegance to the German Steins from that point on.

Ltd Ed 1000. This is one of a serie of steins featuring antique reporductions of medieval German and European cities.

From Germany.
